Engraved Forest 〜刻まれた森 〜

“Welcome to a forest inscribed with memory—
where you encounter the self that has always been there.”


The installation unfolds in a gallery space once used as a retro sewing classroom—a place where women gathered and faced themselves through handcraft.
Although their creations and conversations were often framed by gendered expectations, they also wove intimate relationships there.

In this space, Yoko-Bon brings forth petal-like and cellular forms of emerging life.
Each piece bears sharply etched lines drawn from her own memories and emotions.
The motifs, the incised lines, and the vivid red evoke blood, vitality, and mortality, deepening the room’s original atmosphere of dialogue, creation, and interconnectedness.

Through the contrast between the quiet space that once produced countless handmade works and the pulsation of new life, visitors are invited to awaken their own sensations and memories and resonate with the “inscribed forest” that unfolds here.

そこに確かにあった『私』に出会うために」

舞台は、レトロな手芸教室を再生したギャラリー空間。
かつて女性たちが集い、手芸制作を通じて自らと向き合う場でした。そこでの作 品や対話は時に ジェンダーに絡めとられつつも、女性たちは親密な関係を紡いで きました。

Yoko-Bonはその空間に花びらや細胞のような生命を芽吹かせます。 それらに刻まれるのは作家自身の記憶や感情を基にした鋭く緻密な線。 モチーフ や刻まれた線、鮮やかな赤は血液、生と死など多様なイメージを連想させ、手芸 教室の空間の持つ対話や創作へと導き、縁を織りなす力をより深めます。

かつて無数の手芸作品を生み出した静かな空間と躍動する生命の対比から、訪 れる人は自らの感覚や記憶を呼び覚ましながら、この場に広がる『刻まれた森』 と響き合うことでしょう。
